Venice kept dry from the last 22 November extreme high water event thanks to the “MoSe”

The city of Venice was hit by an extreme high tide event last November 22. The MoSe system, namely the moveable dams at the lagoon inlets, built to protect Venice downtown from the consequences of such events, worked well protecting the city centre and avoiding catastrophic consequences for the priceless historic heritage of the City and his Citizens. BOLINA Ingegneria, some years ago, was involved in the structural design of a series of steel caissons used to form part of the barriers of the MoSe system. At that time our structural engineering work with global and local FE modelling and analysis was considered rather advanced for the usual standards. As Venetians and, as Structural Engineers, we are proud to have contributed to the safeguard and defence of our wonderful City! (https://lnkd.in/enUyphhK)
