Projects

Masonry aggregates – Palazzo Niccolini (Italy)

Activity

Preliminary, definitive, executive structural design, D.L. and safety

Description

The seismic improvement of the building is aimed at the conservation and protection of the historical and artistic heritage in the structural and non-structural parts of decoration and value. The consolidation of the masonry takes place with non-reinforced injections, application of reinforced plaster, thickening / reconstruction of the masonry, closing of the rooms. The interventions are aimed at eliminating or reducing local weakening of the original load-bearing structure, trying not to introduce excessive variations in stiffness between the new materials and the original ones and taking care of the clamping of the existing walls. For the archive room, a “self-supporting” concrete mixed steel floor is envisaged, since the loads are no longer unloaded on the perimeter masonry but on new pillars that rest on a new foundation slab independent of the existing structure The wooden floors are consolidated inserting steel connectors on the beams. For architraves, repair or replacement depends on the type of construction: flat arch or lowered arch. In addition, the project involves the construction of top curbs in reinforced masonry, the insertion of horizontal metal tie rods and the wall clamping with threaded bars. For the valuable elements we proceed with the conservative restoration technique
