Projects

Masonry aggregates – Via Cavour aggregate (Italy)

Activity

Structural modeling, seismic analysis and executive structural design

Description

The load-bearing structure of the existing building is made up of disordered stone masonry, the horizontal elements are distinguished in barrel, hipped, barrel vaults with hipped heads and roof with wooden structure. The structures in question appear to be part of a larger aggregate, so portions of buildings adjacent to the one in question were also included in the model, in order to clearly capture the real behavior of the building under seismic loads

Interventions: reclamation of the masonry through the “scuci e cuci” technique or widespread and localized non-reinforced injections; increase in the bearing capacity and ductility of the masonry through consolidation with System F; closing of cavities, niches or compartments; reconstruction of masonry walls; insertion of horizontal metal tie rods with pole spanners; consolidation of the vaults by FRP; consolidation of the beams and slabs and wooden floors with the construction of a new sole in reinforced concrete.
