Projects

Non-destructive testing of the Belforte school complex (Italy)

Activity

Execution of non-destructive tests for the characterization of building materials

Description

The activity involved the execution of non-destructive tests in order to characterize the materials.

The property consists of vertical masonry elements that have been analyzed in order to define the texture and the presence or absence of clamping. This analysis took place through visual investigations, after detaching, while the definition of the stratigraphy took place by means of the endoscopic test.

To estimate the mechanical characteristics of the masonry in question, a flat jack test was performed, first in a single configuration, to define the operating tension of the portion of the masonry, and then in a double configuration, thus defining the breaking stress as well as the deformation characteristics with the return of the elastic modulus.

This verification has made it possible to improve the level of knowledge of the property for subsequent analyzes and verifications of seismic vulnerability
