Bridge over the Tagliamento River (Italy)

Specialist consultancy on the seismic behavior of the motorway viaduct and implementation of the executive project.

Description

The work of art in question extends for approximately 1500m and consists of three independent sections. The structural system is made with prefabricated ashlars laid on site using a balance cantilever construction system.

The viaducts (via North and South) rest on a constraint system consisting of Pendulum Isolators.

The main activities carried out were:

a) Value engineering activities of joint removal and elastomeric devices

b) Graphic drawings for the development of the executive project, for construction purposes. Therefore, at the origin of the project, a three-dimensional work was carried out to study interference and optimization of the slow reinforcement and the ease of construction of the cage to be foreseen in the prefabrication phase of the segments.

c) Local checks of the deck on typical segments such as blister reinforcements, cable anchors, pilasters and cable deviation and local checks of the shoulder and pile head joints, where the local effects due to external prestressing and transverse analysis were studied of the diaphragm.

d) Analysis of the deck with friction pendulum isolation devices. Solution used in the system to be implemented on site.
